Blackmarsh: brewing and inventory system

Hello dear friends!

During the last few months I have been working on setting up a potion brewing mechanic along with an inventory system where you can keep track of gathered ingredients, take a look at your discovered recipes and use available potions.

Brewing

To brew a potion, you will need to add 3 unique ingredients to your cauldron. You can make whatever combination you desire. Some combinations will give you a potion that benefits you in certain ways like temporary invulnerability, faster movement, higher jumps, etc. while other combinations can have more unpredictable results and may or may not be of help.

In Blackmarsh, there are a total of 5 recipes scattered throughout the world. If you can acquire them you will know exactly which ingredients to use for certain potions. You can always just experiment and see what comes out, just know that some ingredients don't mix well and you may end up drinking pure poison.

Inventory

The inventory system or your pouch (to respect the timeline the game takes place in) is fairly straightforward. You have 3 options to choose from: ingredients, recipes and potions.

The Ingredients tab is a simple list that keeps track of which ingredients you have in your inventory. Comes in handy when you want to brew a specific potion.

The Recipes tab will provide you with a list of each available recipe and will update itself with the required ingredients as soon as the corresponding recipe is discovered.

The Potions tab functions a little different. You can carry only one potion and this option will provide you with the choice of drinking it or discarding it.

I hope this update provided you with a little more insight into the new mechanics of Blackmarsh. Next on the to-do list is adding specific traits to each potion. I'll keep you posted!

Until next time!
